Connecticut is a New England state filled with many opportunities for anyone who has recently completed a formal training program.

The state has a number of renowned hospitals and is home to Yale University, an Ivy League School that produces some of the best doctors and medical researchers in the country.

Employment Opportunities for Phlebotomists in CT

Yale-New Haven Hospital has been ranked as the best hospital in Connecticut by “U.S. News & World Report.” This hospital has also been nationally ranked for excellence in 10 specialties, including diabetes and endocrinology, geriatrics, nephrology, gynecology, and cardiology and heart surgery. The hospital is ranked as number three in pediatric diabetes and endocrinology in the nation.

It also has pediatric rankings in neonatology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, and urology. If you do not live in the New Haven area, there are other hospitals in the state that might need new phlebotomists. They include Hartford Hospital, Danbury Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Middlesex Hospital.

If you prefer to work in a non-hospital setting after completing a phlebotomy program, this state has a lot of other options. If you possess a DPT certificate, consider applying for a job at American Red Cross Blood Services, Hospital of Saint Raphael, or New Britain General Hospital. If a private physician practice is more in line with your employment goals, look for job openings at:

It is only natural to wonder how much money you will make after you graduate from a phlebotomy class. If you work in New Haven, expect to earn around $32,633 per year. This is the median annual salary for phlebotomists in that city. The median annual salary is a little lower in Hartford at $31,833. Make sure you consider commuting costs when determining if either of these salaries is enough to pay your expenses.
