NCCT Application Requirements

Obtain a GED or graduate from high school and graduate from a phlebotomy technician program that is approved by the NCCT within the past 10 years;
Or
Have 2,080 hours of qualifying employment as a phlebotomy technician within the 10 years leading up to the application date.
All candidates who do not reside in California or Louisiana and are applying to take the PT exam, are required to download and complete the “Documentation Form: Phlebotomy Draws.”

Candidates who are using their work experience to qualify for the NCCT certification exam should download the “Qualifying by Experience” guide. This guide specifies what documentation and experience is necessary to apply for the exam. That said qualifications might slightly differ in states that regulate phlebotomy certification (Louisiana and California).
The cost to take the NCCT certification exam is $135. However, the agency offers students and those who graduated within six months of applying for certification a reduced fee of $90. Once the candidate registers, she will be given all the information necessary to complete the application process.

Once certified, individuals must complete no less than 14 hours of approved continuing education yearly and pay a recertification fee to maintain an active status.
